final inspiration
Where do we want to put the final inspiration because it needs to be included somewhere.
uniformity of blog
Hey guys,
I was thinking so that everything looks uniform on the website, do we want to work on making everything the same font/ color of font? I just think that might make it look more cohesive as opposed to all of us having done separate work on it.
Let me know!
Thanks,
Laura
My Section of Work
Hey, I just wanted to let you guys know that I have everything done, except for my new original item. I'm doing that blog idea (which I've started) but I'm also going to pair that with a lesson plan.
Ashley, I did move two pages up on the sidebar (that were on the bottom). Move them around how you need to.

Hey,
I was able to put Laura's link on the Favorite Fruits and Vegetables page:
"Hey guys,
Here was the link that I used for my evaluations, but now, I can't really use it. Is there a place on the website that you guys can use it? Thanks!

Do you know if we need to include a new idea for the home page, "big bang" page, and sitemap? The procedure in Week 12 says "Each web page needs to contain one or two new items of information not given throughout the semester -- ideas, lesson plans, etc. for your topic. All items of information must have a short description of what they are."
I really don't think there's a way or need to do one on the sitemap. I could pretty easily come up with something for the museum page (big bang page).
What do you guys think? I mainly wanted to post it on here so I don't forget to ask Sharon Monday :)

website evaluations
I used these sites for my evaluations. I don't think any of them pertain to you guys. I should be able to put all of them on my pages, but I'll let you know if I can't.

Podcast Posted
I just wanted to let you guys know that I added in the music and uploaded the podcast. I do have to say it turned out really good.
Great job guys!
I don't know if you'll be able to get to the attachment on WebCT so I posted it here:
To post the audio to the blog, I converted it to video. If you'd like a copy of the mp3 to keep for yourself, just let me know what email to send it to.

my lesson are
Over this semester we have talked about different topics about kalamazoo. We talked about what the Students knew about kalamazoo and what they wanted to find out. The students did this by looking up the Local history of kalamazoo and the historical places it has to offer, students are now aware of their surroundings in kalamazoo and the rich history it has to offer along with different townships that are near and around kalamazoo.

main idea of lessons
Here's what my lessons have been on so you can talk about them in the podcast.
Naming of Kalamazoo-
The students researched the history of the naming of Kalamazoo and two other cities of their choice. After finding that information they used that research to make up a story about how a city that they named was named.
To incorporate math, the students took a poll of one class in each grade to find out the favorite former name of Kalamazoo. They took this data and made charts and graphs out of the data they collected.

• Examples of PBL projects from textbooks
What we’ve done & What we chose
• Local History: Kalamazoo & MI
• Research & construct of MI history
• Collect data on classes’ favorite fruits & veggies
• Survey students: opinion of best name for Kzoo

• Survey: what township you live in
• Research historic places in Kzoo
What could be done/needs to be done & Big Bang project
1. Final Project:
o Historical tourism brochure “Travel through time”
o Invitations to open-house (for community & families)
o Make posters of facts
o Business-like, put tickets in invitations and provide a way to “buy” tickets at the door (Answer MI riddles to get ticket?)
Bold words are concepts from the book

Lesson Plan 2
My second lesson plan will have the children survey their class and three other classes to see which fruits and vegetables grown in MI are most popular.
Lesson plan #2
Does it matter what order we do our lessons in. Does the first person have to be the one that teaches the students how to use excel as well as do their data collection? I have an idea about asking the students about their favorite former name for kalamazoo, i.e. is it Kalamazoo, Bronson or some of the other former names.
Lesson Plan Orders
Hey, for Lesson Plan 1, what did you say for lesson context? What order do we want to have our lessons? I forgot to finish this section when we turned in our first ones.
For Lesson Plan 2, what order are we going to do ours?

Movie for 2/26
My movie will be about the advancements of agriculture and how it relates to Michigan and the Kalamazoo area.
Monday, February 22, 2010
Movie
My movie will also be a story on the naming of the city of Kalamazoo, so it will be a non-fiction movie.
My Lesson Plan
For my Lesson Plan I will be doing the naming of the City of Kalamazoo. I will probably have the students do research as well as work in a small group. I do not think that it matters which order that we go in.

1st Lesson Plan (4th Grade)
My lesson plan will cover Michigan's agricultural history during the 20th century (1900's). Students will also be asked to figure out how Kalamazoo fits into the state's history.
At the end of their individual research, students will get into groups of 3 or 4 and create a video documentary or a PowerPoint presentation.
We need to decide what order our lessons should be placed in. I don't feel that there's any particular place mine needs to go. What do you guys think?

assignment 4 landmarks
We are comparing landmarks in Kalamazoo to landmarks in France. We chose France because they have many historic castles and other places of importance. Culturally we are different because we have a government based on equality and Europe's governments almost promote hierarchy in society.
- Who are the students your students will communicate with (specific location, grade level)?
- When would your students contact these other students (at what point in their project work)?
- What kinds of questions would they ask each other and what kinds of information would they share?
- What will they do with the information they get from the other students?
1. We would want our 4th grade students to communicate with students that are in the fourth grade and live in France and go to a school called Atelier des Arts in Tours, France
2. We want our students to start communicating with the other students when we reach our point in the unit on historical landmarks.
3. The first thing that we would want our students to ask the other students is what they would want to know about historical landmarks near our location (ex. times they could tour, it's importance). Then we would have the students at Lincoln International Elementary school ask the students at Atelier why they have castles and who lives there and what they do.
4. Students would then research the answers to the questions asked by the students of the other school. The information would be relayed in email or blog. Once the information has been shared, students will create a Venn Diagram comparing and contrasting each area. Students may also do a presentation on their favorite landmark with a poster and some fun facts about what that landmark is about.
list of castles near the school in france
1. Château de VillandryAddress:
2. Chateau D'Azay-Le-RideauAddress:
3.Château du RivauAddress:

Web Evaluation Sites
I'll look up websites that pertain to agriculture (and how it affected Kalamazoo's economy) and evaluate them. After I decide on my sites, I'll share the links with everyone.
Happy Researching!

Web Evaluations
I will do the history behind the naming of kalamazoo, and also who "founded" and made up those names. I will post the websites as soon as I decide which ones so that we will not have the same websites!
